Magda Khalifa - nextstep apprentice
Magda says:
With the help of the Voluntary Sector Training Alliance (VISTA), I managed to start my apprenticeship with nextstep.
I have achieved many things during my apprenticeship with nextstep such as obtaining NVQ Business Administration level 2, learned many admin skills, dealing with volunteers and much more. I have enjoyed very much working with nextstep Bridgwater Office, I thank Bryan Mitchell, nextstep Voluntary Services Manager, for giving me this opportunity and Ireally appreciate his support with his lovely staff
including Sally Robson.
Again with the help of VISTA and my developed career with nextstep, I have been employed with theSomerset Racial Equality Council - SREC - Somerton
Office as Admin / Finance officer nextstep will help me with my new role".
What nextstep say:
In 2009 working with Somerset County Council and VISTA we were able to offer our first Adult Apprentice placement in the Somerset office. The placement would give the apprentice the skills and working knowledge of a role in administration for 1 year.
The placement has been a great success and Madga has gained her qualification. It has been a great pleasure having her working with us and I know we have all learned a lot from each other. It has been particularly interesting hearing about her background and the culture of Sudan. Magda came to this country from Khartoum some years ago and now livesin Somerset with her husband and young family.
Although we are all very sorry to see Magda’s placement come to an end I am very pleased to say that Magda has used the experience she has gained with us to succeed in gaining employment within alocal Somerset organisation.
