Volunteer Management Training case study

Tori - volunteer management

Tori was working for a Somerset based charity in its retail section, where she managed many volunteers.  She asked her boss if there were any training opportunities that could help her progress into full time volunteer management.

She really wanted to qualify in this topic couldn’t find any appropriate courses.  Her enquiry coincided with ViSTA’s imminent delivery of the Lantra Level 3 in Volunteer Management – an ideal course for someone in Tori’s position.  At the time, free places were available through a Capacity Builders bursary.    So Tori enrolled and successfully achieved the qualification.  As a result of this and her increased confidence, she got a new job which represented both a welcome pay rise and a promotion.

Tori told us:

"I have really enjoyed studying on the 6 day Lantra Volunteer management course. I did the course because I wanted to move out of charity retail and into volunteer management.  Since beginning this course, I have grown in confidence and have a good understanding of all of the aspects of volunteer management. I have been offered a new job in a different company and this can only be due to the experience of learning on this informative course.  I received great support from ViSTA and my tutor which encouraged me to continue in the areas that were more difficult for me. I also received great technical support from ViSTA when my computer broke and I lost my work.   Had it not been for this experience I would not have achieved a pay rise and promotion and I would recommend this course to anyone who would like to improve their volunteer management skills. I would definitely do more training with Vista.’
